I'm Courtney Bassinger and I am proud to be one of the Kindergarten teachers here at Edison Elementary School. To give you a little background on myself, I was born and raised in Louisville, Nebraska (just south of Omaha) where I attended Elementary through High School. Ever since I was very young, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher so all through my younger years I worked in a variety of child related jobs such as daycare, summer camps, babysitting, etc.. Upon graduation from High School, I attended Peru State College where I earned two bachelors- one in Elementary Education and one in Early Childhood Education. I then began my career at the Bright Horizons Family Solutions at First National Bank working as a Preschool teacher. When my husband, who is a music teacher, entered the workforce, we moved out to Lawrence, Nebraska to work for the South Central Nebraska Unified School District #5. After some time in Lawrence my husband and I decided that we missed all of our family and friends back here in the Omaha area. We were delighted to begin my story at Omaha Public Schools and move closer to everyone that we loved.
My husband and I live in Springfield with our two furry babies- Gizmo, a miniature schnauzer and Buster, a cream and white cat. When I am not at school, I enjoy a variety of crafting hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, quilting, and other random projects that I find on Pinterest! I also enjoy singing in my local church choir and going for a brisk jog (when the weather is nice, of course!)
I am honored to be a part of the fabulous team of educators here at Edison Elementary and would be blessed to be a part of your child's school career!
