Our classroom has been working on many strategies this year. We are currently working on making connections to help us understand the story better. We are also working on cross checking, which means when we read we have to think about three important questions: Does it look right? Does it sound right? Does it make sense? If it doesn't then we have to reread. Practice these strategies at home with your child to support their reading skills. Remember, your child should read 20 minutes nightly! They can read to your or you can read to them. Either way works. The more your child reads or is read to, the better readers they will be.
